An Elements Scavenger Hunt isn't just any old scavenger hunt. We have multiple, mysterious missions.
- We want them to become familiar with the parks, the trails and treasures. So, while covering terrain, we are looking for special spots along the way.
The wooden foot bridge
The intersection of the stream and creek
The head of the stream
Team picture on a fallen tree
A hammock in the woods was a special treat!
The rock that looks like a frog's head (a moment later they realized I was hiding underneath).
Good conversation abounds as we meander about.
- We want them to slow down and observe the smaller treasures of the parks. So often we are racing full steam ahead but if we are searching for a relic or an unusual leaf . . . it allows us to discover the beauty in the details while also having fun.
First "Snow Drops' of the Spring
That is truly an ancient relic.
Old bottles and trash
- We want them to learn the history of the Terrain in a fun way - thus one of the things to scavenge was 'information about the history of the Park'
- We want them to get silly and feel the earth move under them in different ways.
- We want them to give back (by collecting trash) to the parks that have provided such fun.
Brett 'weighing the bags of trash to determine which team collected the most.
- Test out their tracking skills by searching for the 'hidden counselors'.
Hiding under the Frog Head Rock - 5 teams found the rock but only 3 looked below to find the Counselor!
Captured!
Not many of the kids realized the importance of looking up for Gus!
Jen captured and taken down.

Enjoy these pictures and be sure to share them with your kiddos. Each week they ask if we can send them prints!
