Fun in the Field, Stream and Woods!

This week was full of truly free form adventures in the Elements. After exploring each parks' terrain for the past 6 weeks, we had the opportunity to revisit our favorite places! In small groups we adventured off path, trudged in streams and puddles, practiced tracking skills, dammed up brooks, bush-wacked, invented games and continued old ones. The true spirit of Elements is found in the moment of free and creative adventure - and thats what this week was all about!
Our Flurries season is winding down.  Tuesday Flurries endured a steady rain and were no worse for the wear. In fact we were even able to get a wee fire going to warm up and Friday Flurries enjoyed the day fossil hunting, and fire building.  Scroll down to see all!

Greetings from the world's muddiest kids !

A strange bird indeed.

An ambling ambulance for a bruised knee.

What could all these Elements adventurers be  listening to so intently? None other than Margaret's explanation of the grueling Iditarod Race in Alaska and our own Elements IditaRUN which will commence next week!

Our Tuesday Flurries endured one last truly Elemental session. Cozy hats, a fire building (hand warming) demo and some good ol' scrumptious mush allowed us to forget the pouring rain and bitter wind!

Our Monday Flurries group had a sunny spring-like day for a scavenger hunt.

Beautiful Flurries on a beautiful day!

Our last session of Friday Flurries was bittersweet - but a fire building demo, a fossil hunt, and some celebratory s'mores all made our last day one for the history books. We will miss you !!!

Meadow Games and Julia Child in the Wild!

This week at Elements we worked up an appetite with some competitive and high energy meadow games! Donning pinnies we dipped and dashed through cold, windy, and rainy days. Everyday we finished with smiles on our faces, bellies full of warm camping treats. Why you may ask? Because it was Julia Child in the Wild Week! We enjoyed edible hand warmers (buttered baked potatoes) and mush (oatmeal with maple syrup and dried fruit) and a few lessons in wilderness nutrition. On Tuesday our Flurries went on a treasure hunt in Montrose park, and Friday was Elements EXTREME day for some Elements die-hards who just can't get enough. All in all it was another terrific week in the Elements!!

Good till the last morsel!

We formed a human chain to be freed from jail!

Much love for the Elements Crew.

"GET IN JAIL!!!!"

Battle cries from the Red team resonate through the meadow arena!

After such an intense game of capture the flag we recovered with some delicious and nutritious mush - oats and dried fruit!

EDIBLE HAND WARMERS!

Nom, nom, nom! Warm hands and happy bellies!

Taking a breather on a cool natural throne!

We discovered a new natural slide on Elements Extreme day! Time to get muddy!
